Shona & Ndebele voices
The concierge's spoken Shona and Ndebele use text-to-speech voices by the multilingual-tts project:
Trained on the Open Bible speech corpus using the VITS architecture with Coqui TTS. Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0).
Changes made: the models were converted to the ONNX format so they can run on Zim Voyage's own servers. The voices themselves were not retrained or altered.
AI-generated voices & answers
Spoken replies from the concierge are generated by AI - they are not recordings of a real person. Voices in languages other than Shona and Ndebele are provided by OpenAI. Concierge answers are written by an AI model using only Zim Voyage's own listings; always confirm important details such as opening hours and prices with the venue directly.
